About Dr Michael Nieves

web_pic_1Michael Nieves is an applied mathematician and a Lecturer in Applied Mathematics at the School of Computing and Mathematics, Keele University. He is also a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow. His main research interests involve waves and dynamic failure in structured media and the analysis of vibrations in chiral metamaterials, with a view to developing a new breed of metamaterials with applications to civil engineering and the nuclear industry. He also studies boundary value problems in densely perforated solids with a novel mesoscale asymptotic approach, well suited to modelling granular materials.
